Decomposed Body Discovered in West Montreal

A decomposed body has been discovered along the banks of the Rivière des Prairies in western Montreal. The grim find occurred on Thursday morning near a residence on Boulevard Gouin Ouest, close to the intersection with Boulevard Saint-Jean.
Details of the Discovery
This grim discovery took place just 1,500 meters from where two students from Cégep Gérald-Godin fell into the river in late March. The ice had given way under their weight, resulting in a tragic incident.
Previous Incident Involving the Students
- The incident occurred in March 2023.
- One student, 17 years old, was rescued and treated for severe hypothermia.
- Hassoun Choui, 18 years old, was swept away by the current and has been missing since March 26, 2023.
Search Efforts for Hassoun Choui
Following the incident, extensive search operations were conducted by police and firefighters. They scoured both the river and its banks for days in an effort to locate Choui’s body. Unfortunately, these search efforts proved fruitless.
Investigation into the Decomposed Body
Authorities have refrained from linking the newly found decomposed body to Hassoun Choui’s disappearance. The coroner has been assigned to determine the cause of death, the circumstances surrounding it, and to confirm the identity of the individual.
