Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan Launch Border Trade and Economic Park

The three Central Asian nations of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are taking significant steps to enhance their economic collaboration. A historic agreement was recently established to launch the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park, located at the tri-border point of these countries.

On May 6, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov visited the Dostuk Stele in the Batken region. This landmark sits at the intersection of the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. During his visit, President Japarov reviewed plans for the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park, which is pivotal for regional commerce.

Details of the Dostuk International Trade and Economic Park

The agreement signed on March 31, 2025, in Khujand, Tajikistan, by Presidents Japarov, Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan heralds a new era in regional cooperation. Key elements of the project include:

  • A total area of 100 hectares.
  • Zones dedicated to administration, tourism, logistics, production, commercial activities, and recreation.
  • Creation of over 5,000 jobs.

This park aims to enhance trade logistics and attract significant investment. It is also designed to stimulate cross-border trade, creating new economic opportunities for the countries involved.

Tourism and Cultural Development

The plan further includes the establishment of tourism infrastructure. This will facilitate international cultural events, ethnic festivals, and various exhibitions. Such initiatives aim to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties among the three nations.
