Engineering Improvements in Progress
Jenny Saunders, Thameslink’s customer service director, acknowledged the inconvenience. She emphasized that passengers from Mill Hill Broadway to Bedford would need to use rail replacement buses, which are expected to increase travel time.
As part of the ongoing improvements, 300 meters of new track is being installed at the St Albans train station. In addition, drainage systems are being upgraded in Radlett to enhance service reliability.
Further engineering work is set to take place on June 20-21 and June 27-28, with additional closures anticipated during these dates.
Dan Matthews, operations director for Network Rail, expressed appreciation for passengers’ understanding. He reassured the public that these enhancements aim to improve overall railway reliability and resilience for both passengers and freight in the future.
