Metrolinx Alerts Commuters to Additional Barrie GO Service Changes

Metrolinx has announced important updates regarding service adjustments for the Barrie GO line this week. Following a construction suspension over the weekend, commuters can expect several changes to train schedules.

Barrie GO Service Changes Explained

On Sunday morning, Metrolinx detailed crucial schedule modifications for Monday’s operations on the Barrie Line:

  • Southbound trains will leave up to 13 minutes earlier.
  • Arrival times for southbound trains may be delayed by up to 10 minutes.
  • Northbound trains will depart from Union Station up to 8 minutes earlier.
  • Northbound trains will arrive at Barrie Line stations up to 10 minutes later than usual.
  • Trips originating or ending at Aurora GO will now start or conclude at Maple GO.
  • GO bus routes 65 and 68 may experience increased connection times, ranging from 15 to 20 minutes longer than scheduled.

Reason for the Changes

These modifications are implemented to facilitate ongoing maintenance work. Metrolinx aims to enhance the overall service quality, ultimately leading to “faster” and “more frequent” GO service options in the future.

The media relations team expressed understanding for the inconvenience these planned disruptions may cause. They emphasized that these upgrades are necessary to improve service reliability, offering commuters more travel options with reduced delays.

Continued Adjustments Expected

Further alterations to the schedule could occur from Tuesday, May 5 through Thursday, May 14, with Barrie Line trains possibly departing or arriving a few minutes outside of their regular schedules.
