Mariners’ Cal Raleigh Removed Late from Lineup

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh was removed from the lineup just before a recent game against the Kansas City Royals. Scheduled to bat second, his absence was announced approximately one hour prior to the match, but the team did not disclose the reason.
Cal Raleigh’s Performance
Raleigh, who finished as the runner-up for the AL Most Valuable Player last season, has had a challenging start this year. Despite hitting 60 home runs and driving in 125 RBIs in the previous season, he is currently batting .186, with seven homers and 18 RBIs over 33 games.
However, there is a silver lining. Raleigh has rebounded recently, hitting five home runs in the last 15 games, showing signs of improvement at the plate.
Mariners Adjustments
With Raleigh unavailable, the Mariners quickly adjusted their lineup. Center fielder Julio Rodríguez stepped in to bat second, while backup catcher Mitch Garver occupied the eighth spot in the batting order.
Injury Update
- Will Wilson, an infielder for the Mariners, has been placed on the 10-day injured list.
- The move is retroactive to Thursday and is due to a left thumb fracture.
- In response, the Mariners have called up catcher Jhonny Pereda from triple-A Tacoma.
As the season progresses, the Mariners will look to navigate through these changes and maintain a competitive edge in their games.
