Warner Bros. Delays Jonah Hill’s ‘Cut Off’ from July Release Date

Warner Bros. has decided to delay the release of Jonah Hill’s comedy film, Cut Off, which was initially set for July 17. The film’s updated release date remains unannounced, as it was not included in the studio’s lineup at CinemaCon for 2026. This move indicates that the production is taking the time to find the right moment for its theatrical debut.

About the Film

Cut Off revolves around two siblings whose affluent parents cease their financial support. Hill directed the movie and co-wrote the script with Ezra Woods. The film stars notable actors including:

  • Bette Midler
  • Nathan Lane
  • Adriana Barraza
  • Camila Cabello
  • Chelsea Peretti

Along with Hill, producers for the film include Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin. The movie was expected to compete with Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Odyssey.

Jonah Hill’s Insights

Cut Off as “pure stupidity.” He humorously noted that he and Kristen Wiig play “two dumbass heirs” who struggle after being financially cut off by their wealthy parents. He compared the movie to classics such as Step Brothers, Clueless, and Trading Places.

Hill praised Warner Bros. executives Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy for their commitment to a theatrical release, emphasizing the team’s efforts to revive comedy in cinemas.

Jonah Hill’s Recent Projects

Recently, Hill also directed and starred in a dark comedy titled Outcome, alongside Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz, which premiered on Apple TV. His past directorial works include Mid90s and the Netflix documentary Stutz. As an actor, he has appeared in notable films like You People, Don’t Look Up, The Beach Bum, and Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.

Kristen Wiig, aside from her role in Cut Off, is featured this summer in the live-action Masters of the Universe movie and has also played significant roles in shows like Palm Royale and the animated film Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie.
