Cadillac Championship Power Rankings Released

The prestigious Cadillac Championship is making its return this week at the Trump National Doral, showcasing the renowned Blue Monster Course. This significant event marks the first time in nine years that the course has hosted this tournament. Previously included in the World Golf Championship series, the event features a competitive field of 72 players, among whom is the defending champion, Adam Scott.
Cadillac Championship Overview
The Cadillac Championship is the fifth Signature Event of the PGA TOUR season. Players will face the challenging Blue Monster Course, known for its demanding length and tricky conditions. The course measures a daunting 7,739 yards and has seen an increase of 141 yards since its last tournament in 2016.
Course Layout and Difficulties
- Longest host of the PGA TOUR this season, second only to the South Course at Torrey Pines.
- Increased length includes notable holes, such as:
- Par-4 2nd hole
- Par-5 8th hole
- Par-5 12th hole (now 667 yards)
- Par-4 17th hole
- The par-3 4th hole remains at 227 yards, recognized as the hardest par 3 in 2016.
Unlike most other tournaments, the Cadillac Championship does not feature a cut, which may lessen the pressure on competitors. However, the mental challenge posed by the Blue Monster, particularly with potentially windy conditions, remains significant.
During the last occurrence in 2016, players recorded an average score of 72.854, with Scott finishing at 12-under par. The course has undergone modifications, including enhancements made by architect Gil Hanse that improved its layout and competitiveness.
Playing Conditions and Forecast
Players should be prepared for warm weather conditions, with daytime temperatures hovering around 90 degrees. Although the course conditions are challenging, players will need to adapt to wind forecasts that could complicate their strategies throughout the event.
The Cadillac Championship promises an exciting return to one of golf’s most iconic venues. With a blend of talent and the challenging Blue Monster Course, golf fans are in for a thrilling tournament this week at El-Balad.
