Anne Nolan Shares Emotional Health Update After Cancer Battle

Anne Nolan recently shared her emotional journey with cancer during an appearance on El-Balad’s daytime show, “Loose Women.” The 74-year-old singer joined her sister Coleen Nolan and fellow hosts Ruth Langsford, Dame Kelly Holmes, and Nadia Sawalha to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Anne’s Cancer Diagnosis and Journey
Anne was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000. Unfortunately, the disease returned in 2020. After undergoing treatment and a medical procedure, she was delighted to learn from her doctors that she is now cancer free.
Emotional Revelation
During the show, Anne discussed the anxieties she faced while waiting for the results of her final mammogram after five years of treatment. “I received my letter but couldn’t open it for two hours. I was terrified it would contain bad news,” she explained. When she finally opened the letter and discovered she was cancer free, tears of joy filled her eyes.
A Moment of Relief
Host Ruth Langsford asked Anne how she reacted to the good news. Anne shared, “I cried. I was so worried the letter would say I need to return for more treatment.” This moment marked a significant milestone in her battle against cancer.
Ongoing Concerns
Despite her recent victory, Anne acknowledged that the fear of cancer returning is a constant worry for survivors. “Having cancer means living with the uncertainty that it could come back,” she noted.
The Nolan Family’s Heartbreak
Cancer has deeply impacted the Nolan family. In 2013, Anne and her sisters grieved the loss of Bernie, who passed away at 52 after a three-year fight against breast cancer. Their sister Linda, aged 65, also faced a challenging battle with cancer. Initially diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2005, she received an all-clear in 2006. Sadly, the disease reemerged in 2017, spreading to her liver and brain. Linda passed away in January 2025.
Awareness and Support
Anne’s story emphasizes the importance of regular screenings and awareness for breast cancer. “Breast cancer affects many lives. It’s crucial for women to follow up with mammograms,” she stated. Her experience not only sheds light on the emotional struggles of cancer survivors but also serves as a reminder for others to prioritize their health.
