Benoît Gagnon’s Health Crisis
On April 8, while strolling in the city, Gagnon experienced a health scare that led to a temporary interruption of blood flow to his brain, known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA). Following this episode, he was admitted to Pierre-Boucher Hospital for further evaluation.
Despite being discharged, Gagnon faced ongoing difficulties. He struggled with speech issues and extreme fatigue over the following weekend. It was only later that he learned he had suffered between five to eight minor strokes while resting at home.
Emergency Surgery and Recovery
Gagnon’s emergency surgery took place the morning of April 14. During the procedure, he unfortunately experienced a major stroke on the operating table, resulting in a prolonged recovery time of six to seven hours in the post-anesthesia care unit.
