Hyundai Launches New £25k Electric Vehicle

Hyundai has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3, with a launch price starting at £25,000. This innovative model will hit the UK market this summer, aiming to enhance the driving experience through new technological advancements and design features.

Innovative Features of the Ioniq 3

The Ioniq 3 introduces several cutting-edge features aimed at improving usability and visibility. The vehicle’s 12.9-inch infotainment screen is positioned above the steering wheel, allowing drivers to maintain a better line of sight. This positioning encourages drivers to keep their focus on the road ahead.

Advanced Operating System

This model is the first to utilize Hyundai’s new Pleos operating system, which is based on Android Auto. The system allows for the installation of apps directly within the vehicle, offering users more functionality than standard smartphone mirroring. Alongside this, physical climate control and media buttons provide a tactile driving experience that is particularly favored in the European market.

Performance Specifications

  • Standard Range: 145bhp motor with a 0-62 mph time of 9.0 seconds.
  • Long Range: 132bhp variant designed for better efficiency.

Charging capabilities also draw attention. The Ioniq 3 can achieve a 10-80% charge in just 29 minutes for the Standard Range model and 30 minutes for the Long Range version. While the peak charging rate has not been disclosed yet, these charging times indicate a competitive edge in the EV market.

Future Variants

There is speculation on whether Hyundai will introduce a performance-oriented variant, tentatively referred to as a “hot N version.” This model could potentially compete with sporty alternatives like the Alpine A290 and Volkswagen ID Polo GTI. Though no concrete plans have been announced, Hyundai’s performance development team has expressed interest in exploring this possibility.

With its combination of advanced features, eco-friendly performance, and a competitive price point, the Ioniq 3 represents Hyundai’s commitment to leading the electric vehicle segment. Expect to see this innovative model on UK roads by summer 2023.
