Jesy Nelson’s Car with Medical Gear for SMA Twins Stolen

Jesy Nelson, the former Little Mix member, has urgently sought the public’s assistance following the theft of her vehicle in Brentwood, Essex. The car was equipped with essential medical supplies for her twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, who have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

Incident Details

On social media, Nelson shared that her black Defender, bearing the registration plate JJ73SSY, was taken from her driveway during the early morning hours. She has offered a £10,000 reward for any information leading to the recovery of her vehicle.

Health Condition of Her Daughters

Ocean and Story have been diagnosed with SMA, a condition characterized by muscle weakness and progressive motor decline. This syndrome can significantly impact mobility, breathing, and swallowing functions.

Community Support Appeal

  • Vehicle description: Black Defender, reg plate JJ73SSY
  • Reward for information: £10,000
  • Contact: Direct message on social media or contact local police

Nelson emphasized the critical nature of the medical equipment stored in the stolen car, stating, “I have so much of my girls’ hospital equipment in that car that’s really needed.”

Advocacy for Early Screenings

This incident comes shortly after Nelson expressed support for enhanced early screenings for SMA in the UK. Originally slated for January 2027, these screenings are now set to begin in October 2026.

Following her daughters’ diagnosis, Nelson initiated a petition advocating for the inclusion of SMA screenings in the newborn blood spot testing program. This petition has attracted over 100,000 signatures.

Meetings and Involvement

In January, Nelson met with Health Secretary Wes Streeting to discuss the importance of early detection of SMA, which could have dramatically altered the circumstances for her daughters. Additionally, in February, she became a patron of SMA UK, further committing to raise awareness about the condition.

As the investigation continues, Essex Police have been notified regarding the car theft, and support from the community remains crucial in locating Jesy Nelson’s car with medical gear for her SMA twins.
