RCMP Charges Filed After CBSA Seizes Seven Fake Passports in Shipment

On April 14, 2026, law enforcement agencies took significant action in Mississauga, Ontario regarding a counterfeit passport case that shook the local community. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have laid charges against a resident of Caledon following an investigation sparked by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
Discovery of Fraudulent Passports
The investigation initiated when a CBSA officer examined a suspicious shipment arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport. This shipment, weighing 1,600 kg, originated from Nigeria. During a thorough inspection, officers discovered seven fake passports cleverly hidden inside sandals.
Details of the Seized Passports
- Five fake passports from the Republic of the Gambia.
- Two fake passports from South Africa.
All seven passports displayed the same photograph of a male individual, but they contained different names and varying biographical information.
Charges Filed Against Nnenna Oketa
Following the discovery, the CBSA arrested the individual responsible, seizing the counterfeit documents along with related materials. The case was subsequently transferred to the RCMP’s Toronto Airport Detachment Border Integrity Unit for further action.
The RCMP charged 44-year-old Nnenna Oketa of Caledon, Ontario, with knowingly possessing a forged passport. This charge falls under section 57(3) of the Criminal Code. It remains important to note that these charges have not yet been tested in a court of law.
