Cornwall Approves 182 Luxury Holiday Homes in New Development Plan

Cornwall Council has given the green light for a significant development at Millendreath Beach Resort, located near Looe. Valley Resorts will construct 182 luxury holiday homes as part of this redevelopment plan. The project will enhance the area’s tourism appeal while ensuring the preservation of the local environment.
Development Overview
The new luxury accommodations at Millendreath Beach Resort will be strictly designated for holiday use only, prohibiting permanent residency. The proposal includes a range of amenities aimed at improving visitor experiences. These features comprise:
- A sea-view restaurant and bar
- A leisure building with a swimming pool
- A children’s splash park
- A café and gym
- Tennis courts
- Additional parking spaces
- A renovated lido and flood defense sea wall
Project Specifications
The site encompasses 90 acres, including 65 acres of woodland, and contains a private beach. The layout divides the development into four distinct areas:
- Woodland: 27 units with three and four-bedroom accommodations along a winding pathway.
- The Spinney: Seven units situated at the pathway’s end, also varying from three to four bedrooms.
- Valley Floor: The majority of the project, featuring 72 units alongside the facilities building.
- Hillside: 50 units arranged across two tiers, consisting of mixed three and four-bedroom designs.
- Beachfront: 26 units comprising one and two-bedroom accommodations, designed in terraces to optimize views.
Facilities and Environmental Considerations
The facilities building will serve as a central hub, offering:
- Customer support services
- A pool and spa
- A gym and yoga space
- Activity rooms and a café
Spanning an impressive 2,000 square meters, this facility will significantly enhance guest services. The beachfront restaurant will include a commercial kitchen, bar, and a rooftop terrace, providing excellent coastal views and dining experiences.
To accommodate visitors, the development will feature a total of 330 parking spaces, including designated spots for disabled access. All housing units will be prefabricated off-site, a strategy intended to reduce construction time and environmental impact.
Conclusion
This ambitious project aims to boost Cornwall’s tourism economy while maintaining respect for the surrounding ecology. Valley Resorts is positioning Millendreath Beach Resort for a prosperous future, aligning with the region’s appeal and the needs of contemporary holidaymakers.
