Leapmotor has revealed an innovative feature for its C10 SUV called ‘LEAP MODE’, designed to enhance driving comfort by effortlessly navigating road obstacles. This technology showcases Leapmotor’s advanced Cell-to-Chassis electric vehicle architecture, ensuring a smoother ride on rough terrains.
What is ‘LEAP MODE’?
‘LEAP MODE’ allows the C10 to rise up to 20 centimeters using a magnetic levitation system. This feature engages automatically when the vehicle approaches speed bumps or potholes at speeds below 20mph. By creating an electromagnetic cushion, the C10 glides over these obstacles, significantly reducing wear and tear on the vehicle.
Activation and User Experience
- Can be activated through a touchscreen icon, a steering wheel shortcut, or voice command: “C10, LEAP.”
- In operation, drivers can experience a “floating sensation” while enjoying reduced risk of spills from beverages.
- Engineers described the feature as reminiscent of riding a magic carpet.
Impact on UK Drivers
With approximately 42,000 speed bumps and over a million potholes on UK roads, ‘LEAP MODE’ aims to provide substantial comfort and potential maintenance savings. Each pothole repair costs drivers around £320 on average, thus making this technology not just a luxury, but a practical investment.
Availability
Starting from April 1st, ‘LEAP MODE’ will be available as an over-the-air update. This seamless integration enhances the driving experience of the C10 without requiring physical alterations to the vehicle.
