Guitarist of Beloved Rock Band Pauses World Tour Due to Cancer Battle

Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, the co-founder and guitarist of the legendary rock band Oasis, has decided to pause the band’s current tour. This comes as he faces a battle with prostate cancer. In an Instagram announcement, Arthurs shared that he will step back from the Oasis Live ‘25 Tour to undergo treatment.

Details of the Cancer Battle

At 60 years old, Arthurs revealed he was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. In his statement, he expressed optimism about his treatment progress. He noted, “The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.” However, he must take a planned break for further care.

Impact on Tour Schedule

Arthurs confirmed he will miss upcoming gigs in several major cities:

  • Seoul
  • Tokyo
  • Melbourne
  • Sydney

Despite this setback, he assured fans of his commitment to return for shows scheduled in South America in November. “I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America,” he stated.

Background of Oasis

Oasis was formed in 1991 in Manchester, England, by Arthurs, Liam Gallagher, Noel Gallagher, Paul McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll. The band had been inactive for over 15 years due to conflicts between the Gallagher brothers. They announced their return to touring in August 2024.

Fans are hopeful for Arthurs’ recovery and look forward to seeing him back on stage later this year.
