Oilers Sign Defenseman Tomas Cibulka

The Edmonton Oilers have officially signed defenseman Tomas Cibulka to a two-year entry-level contract. This contract will commence in the 2026-27 season.

Cibulka, standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 176 pounds, has gained recognition in Czechia’s top hockey league. Over the last two seasons with HC Motor Ceske Budejovice, he has showcased impressive performance, accumulating 42 points from 13 goals and 29 assists across 90 games. Furthermore, he contributed significantly in the postseason, adding 10 points from one goal and nine assists in 13 playoff games.
Early Career and Junior Hockey
The 21-year-old Cibulka hails from Ceske Budejovice, Czechia. His junior career took place in Canada, where he played three seasons in the QMJHL. He competed for both the Val-d’Or Foreurs and Cape Breton Eagles between 2021 and 2024. During this period, he participated in 191 games, earning a total of 102 points that included 18 goals and 84 assists.
International Success
Cibulka also represented Czechia on the international stage. He played a crucial role in the national team’s bronze medal victory at the 2024 World Junior Championship. Throughout the tournament, he scored two goals in seven games, further solidifying his reputation as a skilled player.
