GTA VI Introduces Innovative Breakable Glass System for Vehicles and Props

Rockstar Games is making waves with their upcoming open-world action-adventure game, GTA VI. Recently, developments have emerged regarding new features, particularly a procedural breakable glass system.
Innovative Breakable Glass System
The breakable glass system will be applicable to vehicles and props within the game. This information surfaced through the LinkedIn profile of Brady Jessup, a former Graphics Programmer at Rockstar. He noted his leadership role in developing this next-generation feature.
Although the specific details about the breakable glass system have been removed from Jessup’s profile following Rockstar’s stringent policies on sharing project information, the initial mention confirmed its existence. Jessup worked at Rockstar from February 2020 to April 2023, spanning three years and three months.
Additional Technological Advancements
In addition to the breakable glass system, Rockstar is reportedly implementing several enhancements to the game. These include:
- Advanced water physics, featuring real-time simulation
- Enhanced vehicle physics with a higher polygon count than GTA V
- A real weather system that will influence gameplay and the game environment
The team behind these innovations is part of the RAGE Technology Group, originating from Rockstar San Diego, which created the proprietary engine in 2006.
Release Information
GTA VI is anticipated to release on November 19, 2026, for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As these technologies come together, the title promises to elevate the gaming experience with its immersive world and realistic mechanics.
