Québec: Unfounded Threat Triggers Jean-Lesage Airport Evacuation

The Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec was temporarily closed due to a purported threat on Sunday night. Access restrictions lasted several hours as authorities responded to an emergency situation.
Threat Details and Evacuation
At approximately 10:10 PM, authorities received a threatening call concerning the airport. In response to this alert, the airport terminal was evacuated to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. The airport grounds were also closed off to public traffic.
Law Enforcement Response
- Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) quickly arrived at the airport.
- A police dog unit and investigators were deployed to assess the situation.
- The Sûreté du Québec’s bomb disposal team was also involved in the investigation.
Investigation Findings
By the early hours of Monday, the SPVQ confirmed that the threat regarding a suspicious object was unfounded. Officer Pierre-Olivier Lévesque, a spokesperson for the SPVQ, stated that the investigation would continue to trace the origin of the threatening call and identify those responsible.
Return to Normal Operations
Shortly before 3 AM, airport management announced via social media that normal operations had resumed. Both the terminal and airport area were declared accessible again to the public.
