BMW iX3 Hits 50,000 Orders in Six Months

BMW’s second-generation iX3 has seen an impressive surge in demand, reaching over 50,000 orders within just six months of its launch. This milestone comes after the company opened order books in early September 2025, coinciding with the debut of the Neue Klasse SUV at the 2025 IAA Mobility exhibition.
Production and Capacity
The series production of the iX3 commenced in late October 2025 at BMW’s Debrecen plant. Initially, ramping up to double-shift operations was planned for a later date, but the demand prompted an earlier transition to increase output.
Available Models and Future Launches
- The first model available is the iX3 50 xDrive, which is positioned as a mid-range option.
- A more affordable iX3 40 variant is set to launch in Europe by the end of 2025.
- This upcoming model will feature both single- and dual-motor configurations.
While deliveries are taking place in Europe, the U.S. market will see the iX3 launch later in the summer. Additionally, a long-wheelbase version, known internally as “NA6,” will be introduced in markets including India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
Innovative Features
The iX3 has received several upgrades since its fall introduction, including new body colors and a white steering wheel. Its advanced AC charging system supports faster charging speeds. One standout feature is the bidirectional charging capability, allowing the vehicle to act as a power bank with a capacity of up to 3.7 kW.
Planned Enhancements
- Heated rear seats will be introduced this year, starting in South Korea.
- Ventilated front seats are scheduled for a later release.
There are also plans for performance models, such as the iX3 M60 and a full-fledged M variant. Furthermore, an entry-level model designated as 30L may be released specifically for the Chinese market.
Outlook
With a buildup of customer interest and a host of updates on the horizon, BMW is optimistic about the future of the iX3. The company aims for the forthcoming i3 sedan to follow in the successful footsteps of the iX3, with its debut expected next week and production to start later in the year in Munich.
