The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has announced a series of lane closures on Kaua‘i state roadways scheduled for March 14-20. A total of 17 road projects will affect various highway segments across the island.
Kaua‘i State Roadway Lane Closures: March 14-20
Highway 50 Projects
- Kīpū to ʻŌmaʻo: Single lane closures from March 15-20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between mile posts 2.9 and 8.5 for rumble strip installation.
Highway 51 Work
- Līhu‘e: Right shoulder closures from March 16-20, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between mile posts 0.8 and 1.6 for shoulder grading.
- Additional shoulder closure near mile post 1.9 during the same period for grading work.
Highways 56/560 Updates
- Līhu‘e: Center lane closures from March 15-20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between mile posts 0.1 and 0.4 for waterline replacement. No left turns allowed in the area.
- Kauaʻi Beach Drive: Southbound single lane closures from March 17-19, 1 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. between mile posts 3 and 4 for grass cutting.
- Wailuā: Full southbound closure from March 16-20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between mile posts 5.7 and 5.9 for concrete work on Wailuā Mauka Bridge. Traffic rerouted to Wailuā Plantation Bridge.
Kapaʻa to Anahola and Kīlauea to Princeville Closures
- Kapaʻa to Anahola: Single lane closures from March 16-20, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between mile posts 10 and 14 for grass cutting.
- Kīlauea to Princeville: Single lane closures from March 16-20, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. between mile posts 21 and 28 for grass cutting.
Kalihiwai to Princeville and Hanalei Work
- Kalihiwai to Princeville: Lane shifts possible from March 16-20, 8 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. between mile posts 24.4 and 28.1 for striping.
- Hanalei: Single lane closures from March 16-20, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. between mile posts 2.6 and 2.9 for drainage work.
Additional Closures and Projects
- Highway 58 Pua Loke Intersection: Partial closure on March 18-19, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. at mile post 1.8 for underground surveys.
- Kukui Grove Street: Multiple single lane closures from March 16-20 during nighttime hours for sewer line installation.
- Highway 550 Kōkeʻe: Single lane closures from March 16-20, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for pavement marking and striping.
- Highway 560: Complete closure from March 15-20, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. between mile posts 0.8 and 3 for paving.
