Epic Games Raises Fortnite V-Bucks Prices to Cover Expenses

Epic Games has announced a price increase for Fortnite’s V-Bucks, its in-game currency, citing rising operational costs. This decision aims to address financial demands as the company prepares for the new battle royale season.
V-Bucks Price Adjustments
The price hike will officially take effect before the next Fortnite battle royale season begins on March 19, 2026. The adjustments to the V-Bucks packs are as follows:
- $8.99 pack: now 800 V-Bucks (previously 1,000)
- $22.99 pack: now 2,400 V-Bucks (previously 2,800)
- $36.99 pack: now 4,500 V-Bucks (previously 5,000)
- $89.99 pack: now 12,500 V-Bucks (previously 13,500)
Additionally, subscribers to the Fortnite Crew membership will now receive 800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000.
Changes to Battle Pass and Game Passes
In conjunction with the V-Bucks price increase, Fortnite will remove bonus currency rewards from its main battle pass. However, the battle pass price will decrease from 1,000 V-Bucks to 800 V-Bucks. Other game passes, including the OG, Lego, and Music packs, will also experience a price drop of 200 V-Bucks.
Context Behind the Price Increase
This decision follows the recent conclusion of Epic Games’ legal dispute with Google concerning app store fees, which have now been reduced to 20%. Epic initiated the legal proceedings in 2020, with the antitrust trial commencing in 2023.
As Fortnite adapts to new financial realities, players will need to familiarize themselves with these changes and adjust their spending accordingly.
