Cold Morning with Large Temperature Swings; Nationwide Air Quality Poor

The nation is experiencing a clear but chilly morning with significant temperature variations across regions. Early morning temperatures have dropped below freezing in many areas, particularly inland, where frost is expected. Farmers are advised to take precautions to prevent damage to crops due to cold weather conditions.

Temperature Overview

As of this morning, temperatures are notably low compared to yesterday:

  • Seoul: -0.1°C
  • Chuncheon: -3.8°C
  • Daejeon: -1°C
  • Daegu: -0.4°C
  • Andong: -3.7°C

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly during the day, reaching around:

  • Seoul: 9°C
  • Daejeon: 11°C
  • Daegu: 12°C
  • Gwangju: 12°C

Temperature Swings

Across the southern regions, temperature differences between day and night may reach up to 15°C. These variations require individuals to manage their health carefully during this transitional season.

Air Quality Concerns

Dry conditions accompanied by stronger winds are prevalent, especially in Yeongnam. As a result, the air quality is deteriorating, with many regions experiencing poor conditions. Central-western areas, including Jeonbuk and Yeongnam, are expected to have elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), classified as ‘unhealthy.’

People with respiratory conditions should minimize outdoor activities to avoid health risks.

Upcoming Weather Forecast

Throughout the rest of the week, mild weather is anticipated, with only scattered clouds. By the end of the week, precipitation in the form of rain or snow may occur, particularly along the eastern coast. While temperatures are projected to rise gradually, significant temperature fluctuations will continue to be a factor to consider.

Stay alert and take necessary precautions against the cold and poor air quality. More updates on weather conditions will be provided later. For further inquiries, please contact El-Balad.
