Major Storm to Bring Ice and Snow to Quebec Starting Tuesday Night

A significant weather deterioration is forecast for Quebec, starting Tuesday evening. Environment Canada has predicted freezing rain in several southern regions and a snowstorm in the northern areas of the province.
Details of the Upcoming Storm
The precipitation is expected to begin on Tuesday. It will first arrive as rain before transitioning to freezing rain. This change will particularly affect the following regions:
- Grand Montréal
- Outaouais
- Laurentides
- Mauricie
- Quebec City
- Beauce
According to meteorologist Raja Rapaic, considerable freezing rain is anticipated starting Wednesday. She describes the weather system as a “big storm bringing snow and blowing snow in the north, and freezing rain in the south.”
Weather Conditions in Northern Quebec
While southern Quebec braces for freezing rain, the areas of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Rimouski, and Gaspésie can expect significant snowfall starting Wednesday. Windy conditions are also predicted for Wednesday and Thursday, potentially leading to blowing snow and hazardous road conditions, especially in the province’s eastern and northern regions.
Transition to Snow
In regions experiencing freezing rain, conditions will shift to snowfall during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. Snowfall is expected to persist from Thursday through Friday, as temperatures begin to drop.
This cooling trend could extend winter conditions and complicate travel across many parts of the province, warns Environment Canada.
