Lindblad Thrilled with P9 Finish in First F1 Qualifying Session

Arvid Lindblad achieved an impressive P9 finish in his first Formula 1 Qualifying session, expressing his excitement over the result. The rookie driver, part of the Racing Bulls team, noted that both cars performed well, securing positions in the top 10 at the Albert Park Circuit in Australia.

Lindblad’s Performance Highlights

During the Qualifying event, Lindblad displayed strong form, advancing through to the final segment. He clocked the ninth-fastest lap, just behind teammate Liam Lawson, who secured eighth place. Lindblad commented on the team’s competitive edge, stating:

“I was trying to not get too excited… I kind of knew coming into the session that we were fast.” He praised the team’s efforts by adding, “It’s really impressive to have two cars in Q3.”

Challenges Encountered

One notable moment for Lindblad occurred toward the end of Q2. He faced slow-moving cars from Audi, causing a moment of tension. Reflecting on this episode, he said:

  • “It was a bit scary.”
  • “I’ll review with the team to see if there was anything that I did wrong.”

Team Performance and Expectations

Teammate Liam Lawson echoed Lindblad’s sentiments regarding their unexpected success. He stated that their performance exceeded initial expectations for the weekend. Lawson described his own challenges during Qualifying:

  • “The start was quite rough for me.”
  • “I kept locking up and making mistakes.”

Despite these difficulties, Lawson felt reassured knowing they saved a new set of tyres for the race: “It’s great to go into tomorrow with a new set of softs.”
