Isack Hadjar Unveils Major Challenge from Australian Friday Practice

Isack Hadjar acknowledged his struggles during the Friday practice sessions in Australia. The 21-year-old Red Bull driver highlighted issues with consistency and car balance. Despite these challenges, he remains optimistic about his performance in the upcoming Australian Grand Prix.

Friday Practice Overview

In his debut session, Hadjar initially showed promise. He briefly held the top position in FP1 before a significant lock-up limited his performance, ending the session in fourth place behind teammate Max Verstappen.

FP2 Challenges

During FP2, Hadjar experienced further difficulties, including a near collision at Turn 5. This resulted in him finishing ninth, making him the only expected top-four driver outside the top eight.

  • FP2 Position: 9th

Addressing the Issues

After the sessions, Hadjar reflected on his performance. “Consistency was nowhere really,” he said. He identified inconsistency in his braking points as a key issue, attributing it to the car’s deployment problems. “It was just very messy,” he noted.

Hope for Future Sessions

Hadjar remains confident that the team can learn from these challenges. “As long as we know why and we don’t make the same mistake again, then we’ll be fine,” he stated.

Team Strategy Moving Forward

Chief Engineer Paul Monaghan stressed the importance of adjustments for optimal performance in qualifying. He emphasized that understanding past mistakes will be crucial in improving their car setup. “Every time you run it, there’s a new way to get it wrong,” he warned.

Monaghan believes that the team must focus on their own preparations, regardless of the competition. “If we do a better job than the others, we should be competitive,” he added.

With the dynamics of the teams in the fight for pole position, the adjustments made overnight will significantly influence the upcoming qualifying sessions. All eyes will be on how Hadjar and Red Bull respond to their earlier challenges.
