Patriots Set to Release Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs

Stefon Diggs’ time with the New England Patriots is coming to a close. The team plans to release the wide receiver as soon as the new league year begins on March 11, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Contract Details and Performance

Diggs, a 32-year-old athlete, joined the Patriots last offseason under a three-year, $63.5-million contract. Unfortunately, he will depart the franchise after completing just one season.

During the regular season, Diggs played in 17 games. He registered:

  • 85 receptions
  • 1,013 receiving yards
  • 4 touchdowns

In the playoffs, he participated in four games, where he achieved:

  • 14 receptions
  • 110 receiving yards
  • 1 touchdown

Social Media Confirmation

On Wednesday, Diggs appeared to confirm his upcoming release through a social media post. This announcement follows a challenging personal period for the athlete.

Legal Troubles

In February, Diggs faced felony strangulation and other charges linked to an alleged incident with his personal chef. His arraignment was postponed from January 23 to February 13, shortly after the Patriots’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

As Diggs prepares to leave the Patriots, it remains to be seen what his next steps will be in his professional career.
