Ja Morant Sidelined Against Pelicans Due to Elbow Sprain

Memphis Grizzlies have announced that star point guard Ja Morant will be sidelined for the upcoming game against the New Orleans Pelicans due to an elbow sprain. This decision was confirmed by the team’s announcement on Thursday.

Injury Update on Ja Morant

This is not the first injury setback for Morant this season. Previously, he missed six games due to a calf injury. He made his return to the court last Sunday in a game in London against the Orlando Magic, where he delivered a stellar performance with 24 points and 13 assists.

Recent Performances

Following his return, Morant played against the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 23 points and assisting 12 times in a narrow 124-122 victory. Currently, in his sixth NBA season, Morant boasts impressive averages of 19.5 points and 8.1 rebounds across 20 games this year.

Additional Team Injuries

Morant is not the only Grizzlies player facing injury challenges. The team will also be without the following players against the Pelicans:

  • Santi Aldama (knee)
  • Brandon Clarke (calf)
  • Zach Edey (ankle)

Grizzlies’ Current Standing

The Grizzlies currently hold an 18-24 record, placing them at 11th in the Western Conference. As the season unfolds, Morant has been the subject of trade rumors, but he expressed a desire to remain with the Memphis franchise.

This sidelining comes at a critical juncture for the Grizzlies as they look to improve their position in the tightly contested Western Conference standings.
