White Sox Secure Serathony Dominguez with Two-Year, $20M Contract

The Chicago White Sox have secured Seranthony Dominguez with a two-year, $20 million contract. This acquisition marks a strategic move for the team as they aim to improve their performance after a challenging 2025 season.
Seranthony Dominguez’s Recent Performance
Dominguez, a seasoned reliever, had a notable season with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2025. He was acquired in July from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown. Over 24 regular-season games, he posted a commendable 3.00 ERA, with 25 strikeouts and 12 walks in 21 innings.
Post-Season Highlights
During the playoffs, Dominguez appeared in 12 games, maintaining a 3.18 ERA across 11.1 innings. He successfully finished three games and allowed only four earned runs while recording 10 strikeouts and 11 walks.
World Series Appearance
His final performance with the Blue Jays was a bittersweet one. It came during a heart-wrenching Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, where the Blue Jays lost 5-4 in extra innings. Dominguez faced six batters, allowing one hit and two walks, without giving up any earned runs.
White Sox’s Outlook for the Future
The White Sox concluded the 2025 season with a disappointing record of 60-102, finishing fifth in the AL Central. They have not made a playoff appearance since 2021 and have struggled for three consecutive seasons with a sub-.500 win percentage.
In an effort to change their fortunes, the White Sox recently traded the often-injured former all-star Luis Robert Jr. to the New York Mets. They are now focusing on rebuilding their roster with fresh talents, including 25-year-old infield prospect Muentaka Merakami from Japan. With the addition of Dominguez, the team hopes to enhance their bullpen and set the stage for a more competitive future.
