Windy Day Forecasted for Las Vegas Valley

The Las Vegas Valley is bracing for a significant shift in weather conditions as a wind advisory is in effect. Issued by the National Weather Service, this advisory will last from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, signaling strong winds across the area.

Residents can expect northwest winds ranging between 20 to 30 mph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 50 mph. According to the National Weather Service, these gusty winds may result in hazardous conditions.
Potential Impacts of High Winds
- Unsecured objects may be blown around.
- Tree limbs could fall, leading to possible power outages.
Weather expert Morgan Stressman indicated that winds would shift direction by mid-morning, transitioning from the north. In addition to windy conditions, the valley may encounter light rain, with a forecasted probability of 20 to 35 percent for morning showers.
Cold Front Brings Snow to Higher Elevations
A strong cold front is also making its way into the region, causing snow levels in the Spring Mountains to drop to around 5,000 feet or possibly lower. The chance of snowfall in this area stands at 40 to 50 percent.
- High temperatures in the valley are expected to stay in the low 50s.
- Lows will drop to the upper 30s throughout the weekend.
This weather pattern follows last week’s rain, which has contributed a total of 0.11 inches recorded at Harry Reid International Airport since the beginning of 2026. For comparison, there was no recorded rain in January 2025.
