Avelo Airlines Cuts Services at Wilmington International Airport

Avelo Airlines has announced a reduction in its services at Wilmington International Airport (ILM), effective from late January. This decision stems from a significant decrease in the airline’s aircraft fleet.
Avelo Airlines Service Changes at Wilmington International Airport
Despite these reductions, Avelo will continue to operate flights to four key destinations:
- Nashville, Tennessee
- New Haven, Connecticut
- Tampa, Florida
- Washington, D.C./Baltimore, Maryland
In total, Avelo’s cuts will affect 11 destinations previously served by the airline. The canceled routes include:
- Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
- Detroit, Michigan
- Rochester, New York
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Philadelphia/Wilmington, Delaware
- Orlando, Florida
- Fort Lauderdale/Miami, Florida
- West Palm Beach, Florida
- Fort Myers, Florida
- Washington, D.C. (Dulles)
- New York/Long Island
Impact on Travelers
This service reduction follows Avelo’s recent launch of its first international flight to Punta Cana in December. Avelo Airlines is expected to notify affected travelers directly regarding the service changes.
Wilmington International Airport has assured passengers that all the destinations affected by Avelo’s service reductions are still accessible through other airlines. Competitors such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Breeze Airways, JetBlue Airways, and Sun Country Airlines continue to operate flights to these locations.
