Royals Secure Deal to Acquire Pitcher Matt Strahm

The Kansas City Royals have secured their deal to acquire pitcher Matt Strahm in a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies. This transaction was reported by Robert Murray of FanSided, with additional confirmation from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. As part of the trade agreement, the Royals will send right-hander Jonathan Bowlan to Philadelphia.
Strahm’s Journey Back to Kansas City
This marks a significant reunion for Strahm, who began his professional career with the Royals. Kansas City originally drafted him in the 21st round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
Strahm made his Major League debut with the Royals in 2016. He played parts of two seasons with the team before being traded to the San Diego Padres. In that six-player trade, Strahm, along with teammates Travis Wood and Esteury Ruiz, was exchanged to acquire Trevor Cahill, Brandon Mauer, and Ryan Buchter.
Strahm’s Career Stats
- Career ERA: 3.81
- FIP: 4.12
- Innings Pitched: 56 2/3
Now, nearly a decade later, Strahm returns to the Royals with a wealth of experience, including over 500 innings pitched in the MLB and an All-Star appearance to his credit.
As the Royals strengthen their pitching roster, fans will be eager to see how Strahm will contribute in the upcoming season.
