As the IPL 2026 Auction approaches, Delhi Capitals are preparing to make strategic moves. The auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16, with significant changes expected within the franchise as they aim to enhance their squad.

This year, the auction features a pool of 1,390 registered players. From this pool, 350 players have been shortlisted, including:
- 240 Indian players
- 110 overseas players
- 224 uncapped Indian players
- 14 uncapped overseas players

Delhi Capitals’ Strategy
Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, shared insights into the team’s approach for this auction. He emphasized the importance of player retention and learning from previous campaigns.
Gupta stated, “We have retained a solid group of players from last season. While we narrowly missed out on qualifying for the playoffs, it was a campaign filled with important learnings.”
Recent Player Trade
A notable move ahead of the auction was Delhi Capitals’ trade with Rajasthan Royals. The team acquired seasoned player Nitish Rana in exchange for Donovan Ferreira. Rana’s experience is expected to bolster the squad as they aim for greater success in the upcoming season.
