21 Savage Warns Drake Against Joining Kendrick Battle: ‘You Can’t Win’

In a recent appearance on the Perspektives With Bank podcast, 21 Savage addressed the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. He cautioned Drake against entering this infamous rap battle, advising him to “leave that shit alone.” Savage, who collaborated with Drake on the album Her Loss, acknowledged that despite his warnings, Drake felt challenged and wanted to engage lyrically.

21 Savage on the Rap Battle

During the podcast, 21 Savage recounted a conversation he had with Drake following Kendrick Lamar’s assertive verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s track, “Like That.” He told Drake, “You finna go into a battle that you can’t win.” Savage emphasized that even in victory, the stakes could be unyielding for top-tier artists like Drake.

The Dynamics of Winning

According to Savage, the concept of winning in such battles can be misleading. “The only difference is, when you’re at the top, where does winning put you? You can’t go Number One-Point-One,” he explained. This means that even if Drake were to outperform Kendrick, the impact on his career would be minimal.

Kendrick Lamar’s Perceived Victory

Despite the heated exchanges, 21 Savage stated he did not concern himself with the battle’s outcome. Generally, Kendrick Lamar was regarded as the victor, especially after the success of his track “Not Like Us.” When asked if Drake experienced a setback due to the feud, Savage replied, “Nah,” arguing that Drake remains one of the most-streamed artists in the industry.

Impact of the Feud

  • Drake may have suffered an “internet hit” but continues to dominate streaming platforms.
  • 21 Savage believes the streaming numbers do not reflect the perceived negatives online.

On a different note, 21 Savage recently released his fourth studio album, What Happened to the Streets?, on December 12. The album features collaborations with notable artists including Latto, GloRilla, G Herbo, Lil Baby, and Drake himself. This new project follows his previous album, American Dream, released last year.
