Baku and Washington Strengthen Strategic Energy Ties

Azerbaijan and the United States are enhancing their strategic energy ties. Recent discussions have focused on critical energy interconnectors linking Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Central Asia, and Europe. These initiatives aim to bolster energy supply and establish advanced data centers.

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov confirmed these developments on his X account. He noted a meeting with Jarrod Agen, the Executive Director of the National Energy Dominance Council at the White House. Key topics included the strategic significance of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and its role in interregional energy connectivity.

Trade Operations Overview

Between January and October of this year, trade between Azerbaijan and the U.S. reached a total of $1.059 billion. This figure marks an increase of $19.7 million or 1.9% compared to the same period in 2022. During this timeframe, trade with the U.S. represented 2.59% of Azerbaijan’s overall foreign trade.

  • Exports: Azerbaijan sold $52.7 million worth of goods to the U.S., down by $65.8 million or 2.2 times compared to the previous year.
  • Imports: Total U.S. imports into Azerbaijan reached $1 billion, an increase of $85.5 million or 9.3% from last year.
  • Rank: The U.S. is the fourth largest source of imports for Azerbaijan during this period.

This growing cooperation in energy and trade is set to enhance not only bilateral relations but also regional energy security and connectivity.
