Tilak Varma achieved a significant milestone on December 9, 2025, becoming the first Indian cricketer to score 1000 runs in T20 Internationals (T20Is) before the age of 25. The 23-year-old left-handed batter from Hyderabad made this historic mark during the first T20I against South Africa, held at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

Tilak Varma’s Historic Achievement

Tilak entered the match needing just four runs to reach the 1000-run milestone. He completed his century in the sixth over, hitting a boundary off Marco Jansen’s delivery. This achievement places Tilak as the 13th Indian batter to reach 1000 runs in T20Is.
