Alex Kingston Risks Dance-off after Nightmare “Strictly Come Dancing” Performance

The latest episode of “Strictly Come Dancing” brought unexpected challenges for actress Alex Kingston. During Week 10, Kingston faced a disappointing score, marking her lowest since the competition began. This performance placed her among the lowest Week 10 scores in the show’s history.
Alex Kingston’s Performance
At 62, Kingston had been a contender to become the oldest finalist on the UK version of “Strictly,” surpassing the previous record held by Pamela Stephenson at age 61 in 2010. However, her recent struggles raised concerns about her continuation in the competition.
Historic Low Scores
Only three other contestants have received lower scores than Kingston’s in Week 10. Here are some notable examples:
- Ricky Groves – 22 points (2009)
- Susan Calman – 21 points (2017)
- Ann Widdecombe – 14 points (2008)
Kingston’s score this week matched that of Ed Balls (2016) and Lauren Steadman (2018). Among these five low-scorers, only Steadman avoided elimination in Week 10.
Dance Style Challenges
This season, many contestants struggled with the cha-cha-cha. Notably, only Lewis Cope and Amber Davies managed scores above 30 for this dance style. Kingston’s routine suffered from several mistakes, culminating in a significant misstep where she forgot part of her choreography. Judge Craig Revel Horwood gave her a score of 4, stating, “It got worse and worse.”
Other Contestants Shine
While Kingston faced challenges, other couples excelled. Karen Carney and Amber Davies each achieved a perfect score of 40. Kingston was relieved that last week’s absence of a dance-off meant her scores would combine with this week’s results.
Upcoming Dance-off and Instant Dance Innovation
This weekend’s competition introduced the Instant Dance challenge, where six couples had to quickly prepare a routine based on a randomly assigned style. The last 30 minutes of the show were particularly chaotic yet exciting, drawing attention to contestants like Balvinder Sopal.
Tomorrow night, the results will incorporate last week’s judges’ scores, viewer votes, and this week’s scores, including the Instant Dance scores. Cope won the Instant Dance, further solidifying his strong position in the competition.
As the show progresses, all eyes will be on how Kingston fares in the upcoming dance-off, with many wondering if she can turn her performance around.
