Brendan Doggett, the right-arm fast-medium bowler, is set to become the 472nd player to wear the Australian Test cap. He will make his debut in the opening Ashes Test at Perth Stadium on Friday. This opportunity follows his consistent inclusion in the Test squad during recent tours, including the Indian series last year and as a reserve player for the World Test Championship final against South Africa in June.
Brendan Doggett’s Cricket Journey
Brendan Doggett’s first-class career began in October 2017. To date, he has participated in 50 matches, amassing 190 wickets with an impressive average of 26.5. His initial stint was with Queensland, where he played four seasons of the Sheffield Shield. In the 2021-22 season, he transitioned to South Australia, significantly improving his statistics.

Since joining South Australia, Doggett has taken 110 wickets at an average of 24.5. This is a marked improvement compared to the 56 wickets he took for Queensland at an average of 30.8. His recent performances have solidified his place in the national squad.

Doggett’s recorded bowling speeds in T20 matches generally range between 84-86 mph. In the Big Bash League, he has shown effective performance with an average of 20 and a strike-rate of 15 when bowling at shorter lengths.
