Former Raiders CB Criticizes on Social Media After Dolphins’ Game-Winning Play

The Las Vegas Raiders have undergone significant changes in their cornerback lineup this offseason. This shift follows the hiring of head coach Pete Carroll, who prioritizes larger, longer cornerbacks for his defensive strategy. One player who didn’t meet this criterion was Jack Jones, a cornerback previously acquired under the Raiders’ former coaching staff.
During his time with the Raiders, Jones played in 19 games, securing five interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns. He also tallied 20 pass breakups and 94 tackles. However, persistent off-field behavioral issues led to his release in April, as the Raiders could not find a trading partner.
Jack Jones Finds Success with Miami Dolphins
After leaving the Raiders, Jones signed with the Miami Dolphins, where he quickly emerged as a key player. In the current season, he has proven to be the Dolphins’ top cornerback. His standout performance came in Week 11 during a game against the Washington Commanders in Madrid, Spain. Jones clinched the game with an interception, leading to a victory.
Social Media Criticism of Raiders
Following his game-winning play, Jones took to social media to express his belief that the Raiders should have retained him. This statement came after he had logged 557 snaps with the Dolphins this season. Although Pro Football Focus initially rated his performance with an overall grade of 58.9, improvements are expected as more recent evaluations are updated.
Meanwhile, the Raiders have been trying to rebuild their cornerback squad, identifying talent like Eric Stokes but struggling to find an effective partner for him. Jones’s comments on social media seemed like a pointed critique at his former team, using the opportunity after making a noteworthy play against Marcus Mariota.
