Buffalo Bills’ Star WR Faces Injury Challenge Ahead of Week 11 vs. TB

Injury challenges continue to mount for the Buffalo Bills as they prepare for Week 11. Star wide receiver Khalil Shakir has been designated with an injury after suffering a rib issue during the team’s Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Head Coach Sean McDermott disclosed this update during the weekly pre-practice press conference.
Khalil Shakir’s Injury Details
Shakir’s injury remains a concern given his pivotal role on the team. This season, he has been the most productive receiver for the Bills, amassing 457 yards on 45 receptions. In Week 10, despite the injury, he recorded seven catches for 58 yards and one punt return for seven yards.
- Receiving stats: 45 receptions, 457 yards this season
- Previous season: 76 receptions, 821 yards
Shakir’s style of play, which includes heavy involvement in the screen game and returning kicks, puts additional stress on his ribs. His ability to participate in practice will be monitored closely as the team approaches their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Additional Injury Updates
Shakir is not the sole player impacted by injuries on the Bills’ roster. Others listed as limited during Wednesday’s practice include:
- Christian Benford – Groin injury
- Terrel Bernard – Ankle injury
- Taron Johnson – Groin injury
- Cam Lewis – Undisclosed injury
- Joey Bosa – Wrist injury
- Shaq Thompson – Hamstring injury
- Dorian Williams – Undisclosed injury
Moreover, tight end Dalton Kincaid also missed practice due to a hamstring injury, which McDermott labeled as week-to-week. Kincaid ranks second on the team with 448 receiving yards this season after also previously being sidelined with an oblique injury.
Defensive Challenges
On the defensive front, Phidarian Mathis was a non-participant in practice due to a shoulder injury. Mathis recently joined the Bills’ 53-man roster and played a significant role in last week’s game. In contrast, A.J. Epenesa and Joshua Palmer participated fully in practice on Wednesday and are on track to return to action following their absences in Week 10.
The Bills face a crucial matchup against the Buccaneers in Week 11, and the status of their injured players will play a vital role in their game plan.
