Buffalo Bills Sign Super Bowl Star WR to Strengthen Roster

In a strategic move to enhance their roster, the Buffalo Bills have signed former Super Bowl champion wide receiver Mecole Hardman to their practice squad. This announcement was made shortly after the trade deadline, highlighting the team’s commitment to strengthening their wide receiver group.
Buffalo Bills’ Signing of Mecole Hardman
Mecole Hardman, who gained fame for his game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVIII, joins the Bills after a notable career. Drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs, Hardman enjoyed six successful seasons with the team. From his debut in 2019 until the conclusion of the 2022 season, he established himself as a key contributor.
Hardman’s Career Overview
- Statistics: 178 receptions
- Total Yards: 2,296 yards
- Average Yards per Reception: 13 yards
- Touchdowns: 16
After his time with the Chiefs, Hardman had a brief stint with the New York Jets and returned to Kansas City in 2024. Most recently, he was signed by the Green Bay Packers to their practice squad in August.
Current Status with the Buffalo Bills
At 27 years old, Hardman is expected to provide depth to the Bills’ wide receiver corps. This release comes at a time when the team was actively seeking reinforcements, especially after unsuccessful attempts to acquire Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins near the trade deadline.
Hardman will bring his experience and game-changing abilities to the Bills. He is currently positioned as the fourth wide receiver on the practice squad, which also includes Gabe Davis, Kristian Wilkerson, and Stephen Gosnell.
This signing reflects the Bills’ ongoing efforts to enhance their offensive capabilities as they prepare for the remainder of the season.
