Fatalities Linked to Rough Seas
One of the victims was a 43-year-old Spanish man who fell into the ocean while fishing at a beach in La Guancha. Despite being airlifted to a hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Another man was discovered unresponsive at El Cabezo beach in the south. Lifeguards attempted resuscitation but were unable to revive him. Details about his identity remain undisclosed.
A tragic incident in the northern city of Puerto de la Cruz involved a 79-year-old Dutch woman who suffered a fatal heart attack. This occurred when a giant wave unexpectedly swept ten individuals into the sea.
Tidal Surges and Injuries
Emergency reports indicated that several individuals were plunged into the water due to sudden tidal surges. A significant wave crashed into a pier, dragging people with it. Among those affected, three individuals sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.
