Man Falls Over 100 Feet to Death at Grand Canyon, Sheriff Reports

A tragic incident occurred at the Grand Canyon, resulting in the death of a 65-year-old man. According to reports from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place at Guano Point in Grand Canyon West.
Details of the Incident
The man reportedly slipped over the canyon’s edge and fell more than 100 feet. The sheriff’s office received the emergency call around 2 p.m. on Thursday.
Search and Rescue teams were dispatched to assist the Hualapai Nation with the recovery. They located the victim approximately 130 feet down on a scree pile.
Recovery Efforts
Technical rope technicians were deployed to set up a lowering and raising system using ropes. This method allowed them to recover the body and transport it to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.
