Officials indicated that the outage stemmed from the loss of a substation, although they did not disclose the specific cause. The initial assessment suggested that repairs could take approximately six hours to complete, leading to an anticipated restoration time by 8:30 PM.

Restoration Updates

By 3 PM, Rocky Mountain Power effectively restored electricity to nearly 13,000 customers. However, around 5,500 customers remained without power, with updates suggesting that some could remain offline until 10:30 PM.

Affected Areas

The majority of those impacted resided in Millcreek, particularly along the Murray-Holladay border. The remaining outages were concentrated within the Millcreek region.
