Boston Celtics Star’s Status Uncertain Due to Concussion Protocols

Boston Celtics player Luka Garza sustained a head injury during a recent game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The incident occurred while he attempted to secure an offensive rebound, leading to a significant fall. Although Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla encouraged him to get back on his feet, Garza’s participation in the game was limited.
Luka Garza’s Injury and Concussion Protocols
Following the tough hit, Garza’s status was updated to “out” as he entered concussion protocols. He played just six minutes, recording one rebound and one block, but did not score on his two attempts from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, the Celtics narrowly lost to the 76ers by a score of 117-116 at TD Garden.
Details of the Incident
The injury occurred during a collision with the Sixers’ Adem Bona as both players pursued a loose ball. Subsequently, teammate Payton Pritchard secured the offensive rebound and made a layup amidst the chaos.
Celtics’ Rotation and Next Steps
In the first half of the game, the Celtics utilized a 10-man rotation, which included Garza along with Neemias Queta and Xavier Tillman. If Garza is unavailable for future games, Queta and Tillman are expected to take on additional minutes. Queta performed well in his season debut, amassing 17 points and eight rebounds before fouling out.
Garza, who joined the Celtics this offseason, will be eager to recover quickly from this incident. The team’s next matchup is against the New York Knicks on Friday, and a determination regarding his availability should be made public in the upcoming injury report.
