The Dallas Stars are finalizing an eight-year contract extension for defenseman Thomas Harley, valued at $84.7 million. This deal, which is reported by TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, averages $10.5875 million per season.

Thomas Harley’s Performance and Career

At just 24 years old, Thomas Harley is entering his fifth season with the Dallas Stars. In the current 2025-26 season, he has recorded one goal and seven assists, totaling eight points across nine games. Last season, Harley was impressive, having scored 16 goals and provided 34 assists for a total of 50 points in 78 games. During that time, he averaged 23:23 minutes of ice time per game.

International Experience

Harley is not just a star at the club level; he also represented Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off last February. In that tournament, he contributed with one assist in two games, helping the team secure a gold medal.

Contract Details

Before this new extension, Harley was finishing a two-year contract worth $8 million, which carried a $4 million cap hit. As the season concludes, he was set to become a restricted free agent.

Dallas Stars’ Current Season Status

The Stars currently have a record of 5-3-1, amassing 11 points in their first nine games. They sit in fourth place in the Pacific Division, as they continue to strengthen their roster with key contract extensions.
