A Georgia man, Billy Joe Cagle, has been federally charged after allegedly threatening to “shoot up” Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The incident occurred on October 20, 2025, prompting a significant law enforcement response.

Cagle, a 49-year-old convicted felon, reportedly arrived at the airport with an AR-15-style rifle and numerous rounds of ammunition in his truck. He was charged with several offenses, including attempted violence at an international airport and interstate communications containing threats.

While on a FaceTime call, Cagle threatened to engage in violent action at the airport. He allegedly stated, “I’m at the airport, and I’m gonna go rat-a-tat-tat,” before abruptly ending the call.
