Las Vegas Braces for Showers and Thunderstorms

Las Vegas is preparing for a change in weather this week, as multiple storms are set to bring showers and potential thunderstorms to the area. The first wave of rain is expected on Wednesday, with regional showers likely in Southern Nevada.

Current Weather Outlook

The weather in Las Vegas for Wednesday is anticipated to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with temperatures reaching around 81 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the mountains may experience more active weather, including a few isolated thunderstorms.

  • High temperatures: Around 81°F
  • Possible regional showers
  • Best chances of rain located in the mountains

The valley is primarily expected to see virga, where raindrops evaporate before reaching the ground due to dry conditions at the surface. Winds will generally remain light, hitting a maximum of 10 mph.

Air Quality and Pollen Levels

Today, air quality in Clark County is rated as ‘good.’ However, pollen levels are at a ‘moderate’ level, with ragweed, sage, and wormwood being the most prevalent allergens.

Tonight’s Forecast

As the evening progresses, skies will clear, leading to cooler overnight temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s. Winds will continue to be light, out of the west, at speeds up to 10 mph.

Overnight into early Thursday, there is a chance of additional showers, particularly north of the valley, as the storm system moves east.

Looking Ahead

Following the unsettled weather, Thursday and Friday are predicted to bring pleasant conditions, with highs near 80 degrees. A new storm system is forming in the Gulf of Alaska, projecting its path toward the Pacific Northwest. This system will also influence Southern Nevada, bringing increased winds ranging from 20 to 30 mph over the weekend.

  • Saturday & Sunday: Wind gusts of 20-30 mph
  • High temperatures on Sunday: Upper 70s

As the beginning of next week approaches, conditions will cool further, with high pressure expected to bring temperatures back to the upper 70s to low 80s by Tuesday.

Halloween Forecast

Looking ahead to Halloween, an early forecast suggests mostly clear skies, with temperatures during trick-or-treating hours hovering in the low to mid-70s. Residents are encouraged to share any local rain footage with El-Balad, which may feature on their platforms.
