Guide to Joining Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles

Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles offers trainers a competitive and immersive experience. In these battles, four trainers and their Pokémon engage in real-time combat on the battlefield. There are 26 ranks, ranging from Z to A, which signify a trainer’s skill level. Players move through the ranks based on their battle performance and results.

Getting Started with Ranked Battles

To enter Ranked Battles, trainers must first assemble a battle team. This process involves selecting three Pokémon from their storage boxes. Players need to ensure that the Pokémon they want to use are not part of their current party. Any Pokémon intended for the battles should be moved into the boxes. Trainers must also ensure their Pokémon have necessary items, such as Mega Stones.

Joining a Ranked Battle

To participate in a match, follow these steps:

  • Open the main menu.
  • Select “Link Play.”
  • Choose “Ranked Battles.”

Ensure your device is connected to the internet. After navigating to the Z-A Battle Club screen, there will be a chance to edit your chosen team before the battle begins. Hit the A Button to prepare for matchmaking.

Battle Mechanics

Each battle lasts three minutes. When a Pokémon faints, it’s returned to the starting position, fully revived. Trainers can only switch active Pokémon three times, with the limit resetting upon a Pokémon’s defeat. Ranking is determined by the number of opposing Pokémon defeated, and additional points can be earned by accomplishing specific in-battle goals.

Earning Points

Trainers can enhance their score in various ways, which influence their overall ranking:

  • First Attack: Awarded for delivering the initial damage.
  • Last Attack: Granted for dealing the final blow.
  • First to Mega Evolve: Given to the player who Mega Evolves first.
  • First to Claim an Item: Given to the first player to pick up an item.
  • Scatter Attacker: Granted for defeating at least one Pokémon from each opponent.
  • Most Active Attacker: For landing the highest number of attacks.

Trainers can achieve promotions by collecting the maximum points for their current rank. The competition resets at Rank Z at the start of each season, allowing everyone a fresh opportunity to climb to Rank A.

Battle Items and Effects

During battles, trainers may find glowing items on the ground, each with different effects:

  • Green Glow: Restores HP for all Pokémon in your party.
  • Red Glow: Temporarily boosts Attack and Special Attack.
  • Blue Glow: Temporarily enhances Defense and Special Defense.
  • Mega Power Orbs: Provides Mega Power benefits.

Multiplayer Options

Multiplayer battles are available among players utilizing various versions of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for online battles. Ensure you have downloaded the latest updates to enjoy full multiplayer functionality.

In summary, Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles is a thrilling competition that encourages strategy and skill. By understanding the mechanics and making wise in-battle decisions, trainers can ascend through the ranks and enjoy a rewarding gaming experience.
