Dodgers’ Manager Unveils Major NLCS Roster Changes

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to compete against the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) on Monday evening. As they gear up for this critical postseason matchup, the team is contemplating significant adjustments to their roster, particularly in the pitching department.

Roster Changes Ahead of NLCS

Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts has indicated that the team will likely add an additional pitcher to their roster. This decision stems from the nature of the upcoming seven-game series, which elevates the importance of a strong pitching staff. Roberts emphasized the need for adjustments based on the length of the series and the potential opponents.

Ineligible Players and Potential Replacements

One player who will not be part of the NLCS roster is reliever Tanner Scott. Scott is sidelined due to a lower body injury sustained during the NL Division Series (NLDS). General manager Brandon Gomes noted that Scott would require one to two weeks for recovery, rendering him ineligible for the NLCS.

  • Potential replacements include second baseman Hyeseong Kim and outfielder Justin Dean.
  • Both players have primarily contributed as pinch runners in the postseason, scoring in the Dodgers’ narrow victory over the Phillies.

Possible Additions to the Pitching Staff

Edgardo Henriquez, a reliever who was initially on the Dodgers’ Wild Card roster, may be reintroduced. Despite a brief outing in the Wild Card round, his addition could provide much-needed depth to the bullpen.

Additionally, Roberts has hinted at potential shifts regarding the catcher position. With Will Smith fit to play, either Ben Rortvedt or Dalton Rushing might be dropped to accommodate roster changes.

NLCS Roster Announcement

The Dodgers will officially unveil their NLCS roster on Monday morning at 8 a.m. PT. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the team adjusts its composition for this highly anticipated series against the Brewers.
