In an effort to tackle escalating grocery prices and enhance food security, Prime Minister Mark Carney has unveiled Canada’s inaugural National Food Security Strategy. This initiative aims to create a robust, affordable food system while bolstering the nation’s agricultural economy.

Key Objectives of the National Food Security Strategy

• Enhancing Grocery Store Competition: The strategy aims to foster competition among grocery retailers, thus giving Canadians more choices.
• Infrastructure Investments: Allocating $1 billion to develop food terminals and hubs will support independent grocers in accessing competitively priced products.
